APEX 26.1 : A quick look at the visuals

With around 20 years on the job, Matt is one of the most experienced software developers at Pretius. He likes meeting new people, traveling to conferences, and working on different projects.

He’s also a big sports fan (regularly watches Leeds United, Formula 1, and boxing), and not just as a spectator – he often starts his days on a mountain bike, to tune his mind.

Iris Theme Style

Iris is the new default theme for all new apps, taken over from Vita, which is still available as a theme style. It is described by its author as:

Easiest way to explain Iris (my personal perspective/opinion), take a the branding/accessible colors from Redwood, but keep the polish/stableness of Vita. mix the to together and this is what you get. It also helps hint at future direction ;)

source

It's still Vita under the covers, but it will evolve over time.

Sadly, unlike Vita, Iris has no Dark Theme - but of course this could be requested.

Iris is showcased here containing a stack of new features.

The Universal Theme App has had an update too

You might want to check on the new Metric Card, which would be my pick.

The theme ruler has fewer configurations than Vita, however they are all very powerful. Pillar is the name given to the feature which controls the highlighting / top bar of your application. They're all quite bland colors (which is ironic as the word iris, in ancient Greek, means rainbow) however you can go for a custom bright yellow if you like - see below

Is Iris the Theme Style of the future? is it a stepping stone to something else? who knows… however it is the default theme style for now.

Page Designer

A flashy new left-hand side panel and new page transitions

The page designer looks really slick and it's had a new makeover; although the borders around the attributes are quite heavy and we'll take some getting used to. However they do align with the Redwood Design principles. There is some news on some tweaks to come in the future.

Font APEX

Font APEX has now been upgraded to, a non-standard Oracle release number of, 2.5. The GitHub repo has not been updated at time of writing; however you can use the UT app to check them out:

A new set of construction icons have been added & new thumbs up/down icon glyphs have appeared.

There's more on Font APEX here
