A Perplexity Labs generated App based on an Oracle Restful Service

With around 20 years on the job, Matt is one of the most experienced software developers at Pretius. He likes meeting new people, traveling to conferences, and working on different projects.

He’s also a big sports fan (regularly watches Leeds United, Formula 1, and boxing), and not just as a spectator – he often starts his days on a mountain bike, to tune his mind.

I used to add to blog titles like these “…on your lunch break”. They were catchy and you could learn something in around an hour.

Well not really anymore, as Perplexity can pump out an app in mere seconds or a few minutes - and you learn basically nothing. Let’s give it a go and learn precious little in the process 😁

First, in APEX lets REST Enable our schema and install the sample module called oracle.example.hr

Then we will hit the Generate Swagger Doc button and wait till it downloads.

In Perplexity Labs, change the the Labs (💡icon). Upload the swagger file you just downloaded. Then use a prompt like the below

Let’s see the results of the first attempt. Not too shabby really. Its already a fully functional application.

Like any prompt, you can refine your app with AI. Download it; upload it as a site. All data changes are going through Oracle ORDS Restful Services.

Troubleshooting: Did you hit a CORS issue? read this.
